Notice of Race
Race Around the Rocks '10
21st Annual Regatta - June 4-6, 2010
Schooner Cove Yacht Club is pleased to present its annual
Spring Regatta. At SCYC, you'll find great sailing, great competition,
great prizes, and great memories. Another wonderful sailing
weekend!
Rules and Eligibility/Ratings
The regatta will be governed by 'rules' as defined in the Racing
Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the prescriptions of the Canadian
Yachting Association when they apply, the rules of PHRF-NW (where
applicable), One-Design class rules (where applicable), this
Notice of Race and any subsequent Schooner Cove Yacht Club Sailing
Instructions or SCYC Race Committee amendments that are deemed
necessary to ensure a fun, safe and memorable weekend! This event
is designated Class 'C' re: Advertising.
All boats entering PHRF-NW divisions must have a valid PHRF-NW
certificate, see note below. All boats entering One Design divisions
must be members of their respective One Design class association.
A minimum of five (5) entries are required to qualify for One-Design.
Should there not be enough entries for a One Design Class, boats
can race in a PHRF-NW division but they will require a PHRF-NW
certificate.
NOTE: visiting PHRF-BC boats will be assigned a PHRF-NW rating
for this regatta by the SCYC Race Committee. All boats entering
Cruiser Divisions shall be assigned a temporary regatta rating
by the SCYC Race Committee. Temporary ratings are valid for this
event only and are not subject to appeal.
Insurance / Equipment Standards
A valid certificate of insurance indicating public liability
coverage for property damage, personal injury or death, valid
for racing, which for Canadian yachts shall not be less than
$1,000,000.00, must be carried on board while racing. All boats
racing in PHRF divisions should comply with Transport Canada
minimum safety requirements for the appropriate vessel length.
Registration / Entry Fee
Entry Forms should be available online on the Schooner
Cove Yacht Club website or by contacting SCYC Fleet
Captain (see below for contact information).
$50 Canadian for entries (including payment) received on
or before May 8, 2010. This 'early-bird' registration
puts your boat name on the famous SCYC T-Shirt.
$60 Canadian for entries received after May 8,
2010.
When mailing in your registration form, please include your
cheque or money order made payable to SCYC. If you want to ensure
that your form and fees are received by SCYC before May 1 and
don't trust the mail to get it there on time you can contact
SCYC Fleet Captain by telephone or e-mail to discuss alternate
arrangements (see Page 3 of this Notice of Race for mailing and
contact information). You must provide your current handicap
certificate (where applicable) and proof of insurance when you
present yourself at the registration desk. The registration desk
will be open from 17:00 to 20:30 June 5th and from 07.30 to 08.00
